Presenting the Babes:
This blog was created as a way to help each other reach our goals to become unfat! It'll allow some virtual butt kicking since we live several states away from each other... we're both fairly short and our legs just won't reach from NC to GA and back!

FM must die update

FM, You must die!
Well, I've been really good this week but also really bad. Kinda confusing, right? Tell me about it... I'm the one living in this brain! Some days, I have been really focused on killing the fatness monster by working out and eating rationally and other days, I have frolicked with his cohorts, Reece's Peanut Butter Eggs and gorgonzola ravioli! What a dual nature I have! Anyway, my exciting plan for Friday night is to hit the elliptical and then the pool. Do you think the fatness monster can swim?!? I HOPE NOT! Maybe he'll drown and leave me alone!
The reason for this renewed hatred of that dasterdly monster is sad, but true... I can no longer fit into my skinny jeans!!! Ya know, the jeans that I tried on multiple times because I kept needing a smaller size?!? It makes me mad, like, REALLY mad! It's worse to lose some weight, be so proud of yourself, feel accomplished, buy some new clothes in sizes 2 times smaller and then, because you are a dingbat, not be able to fit them anymore! Argh! Ugh! Blah! {Screams} That is all I have to say!
I think my Sat & Sun will include some working out, as well! Maybe the fatness monster will be scared and run away... In fact, that is my goal for this weekend!
DEATH TO THE FATNESS MONSTER!

karita sits up & walks
So for the last couple of mandated workouts, I had to fit 'em in where ever I could... I was NOT missing my gua sha treatment!!! On Sunday, BL & I decided to do a triplet. A triplet is where u decide on 3 CrossFit movements combined to make a workout. We initially designed a CF style workout with 3 rounds of situps, push ups, and dips using our parellettes... Yeah, um, that didn't happen for me!!! My first attempt using the parellettes was kinda funny, the second one hurt! When u fall two times in a row straight on your bum from about 10-12 inches in the air, you pretty much decide NOT to proceed with that exercise! So, once again, I scaled an exercise to something I could do... I kept the situps and push ups to punish myself and then, cuz I was mad I couldn't do the parellettes, I threw squats in there, too! 3 rounds of 75 reps total, however I wanted to break it up! I will say I was proud to finish in about 15 minutes! I also had a little extra incentive... Sadie planted herself at my feet, so she got a whole lotta tummy rubbin' whenever I came up for my situp!
My last workout was pretty simple, a very brisk walk with BL and the Beag on my lunch hour!
I am happy to report that I did get my favorite torture treatment and have been threatened by DrB to do another 8 workouts... Here we go again! :)

Karita walks with a Purpose
Today I, along with 27 other beautiful hearted ladies, just finished Walking with a Purpose, a charity walk for Mercy Ministries. Each walker donated $5 to go directly to Mercy!!!
Mercy Ministries is a God filled and God blessed ministry founded by Nancy Alcorn. Mercy's mission is simple... Take broken young women and bring them to the throne of God to reveal their true beauty. What I love about Mercy is that it is solely funded by contributors. No money is received by the government AT ALL, so Mercy can focus on the real solution to the girls' problems... God and the redeeming love of His Son, Jesus! Another thing I love about Mercy is that every girl admitted to the program 1) must come on her own initiative, 2) is not allowed to speak about her past to the other girls, and 3) comes free of charge!!! Nancy Alcorn is a true believer in being able to help and save every girl she can, regardless of their socioeconomic background. I love that!
Please take the time to check out Mercy... www.mercyministries.org. Feel free to give, if you see fit. It'll mean alot to these girls and just might warm your heart, too!
Here are some pics of our walk!!![gallery link="file" order="DESC"]

Hiking With the Honey
I’m not quite sure what possessed me to engage BL in a hike after my 3 mile Walk With a Purpose this morning, but I did it. It must have been the 60* weather after over a week of 20* days… That sun just kept luring me outside! We decided to do some geocaching, too, which is basically urban treasure hunting, if you don’t know and had a blast! We found the first cache fairly quickly as it was located in a very accessible place but the second cache was not as, shall we say… Willing to be found?!? We searched deep on a trail that was actually supposed to be closed for what seemed like hours but couldn’t find it! At one point, BL left me on the trail alone so he could go look for it Cherokee warrior style… Not the best idea we’ve ever had! All I can say is that I am NEVER hanging out on a closed trail by myself in the impending dusk of a January day again!!! I definately was putting my “God has not given my a spirit of fear” knowledge to heavy use!!! I have never been happier to see my husband than after those 20 mins alone in the woods! Once on the paved trail, I laughed about it… Kinda. Okay, it wasn’t until we made it back to the car that I cracked a smile!!! I did have fun, though. Part of geocaching is not getting caught or being seen by non geocachers… That always adds an element of excitement to the whole adventure! if you’re an outdoorsy person or are looking for a fun and FREE family activity, check out www.geocaching.com for more info! I think you’ll love it and have tons of skulking around fun!

INSANITY
I campletely plan on getting this series as soon as I get my tax return in. After I pay my stack of bills of course... So hopefully I'll be able to start around mid February. I'm going to start walking to build up some endurance before I get the crap beat out of me by Shaun T, developer of the Insanity program.

7 Day Diet by "The Biggest Loser"
Day 1:
Breakfast- 1/2 cup scrambled egg whites with a tsp of basil; low calorie toast with spray butter; 1/4 of an orange, 1/2 cup of blueberries.
Midmorning Snack- Fat free vanilla yogurt with 1/4 cup of sliced strawberries. (I threw in the blueberries I ddn't finish for breakfast, about 10 of them).
Lunch- Chargrilled chicken breast from Chick-fil-a (no bread); side salad with Lite Italian dressing.
Afternoon snack- 6 baby carrots with fat free ranch.
Dinner- Salmon fillet; spinach salad with oil and balsalmic vinegar and grated parmesan cheese; teh rest of the yogurt I didn't finish for my snack.
I thought this would be so hard, or it wouldn't be enough food to sustain me all day. But to tell the truth, I was struggling to finish my blueberries (which I love) at breakfast, I struggled to eat all of my yogurt, and dinner was super filling as well even though it really wasn't a lot of food. I am pleasantly susprized at how easy today went. And I felt better today than most days lately. I definately feel a difference on how my body reacts to the correct foods and portions. A real eye opener today...

karita dances with the stars
Well, I thought the New Year would give me the "fresh start, new motivation" kick in the pants to get back into working out, but I have discovered that I have to bring my own motivation. In the last month, Bobby has asked, bribed, conjoled, and threatened me to go to the gym... Obviously, it hasn't worked. So, I am on a quest to kick the lazy bones right outta my body. Actually, my chiropractor is on a quest to help me kick the lazy bones outta my body. At our last chiro appointment, Bobby ratted me out to her that I wasn't working out, so she gave me an ultimatum... I have to work out 8 times between my last appt and my next appt or no more of my favorite torture treatment. So, I'm baaaa-ck! I took a walk over the weekend and then tonight, I broke out my "Dancing with the Stars" cardio DVD! The DVD consists of a full body warm up, a choice of 4 dances, the Cha Cha, the Paso Doble, the Samba, or the Jive, then a full body cool down.Whew, it is way harder than you think it's gonna be. Those instructors are pretty hard drivers... Every time I slacked off even just a little, one of them would holler at me, "Lift up your chin," "Tighten your butt," "Push your pelvis out!" I wanted to smack 'em! It certainly works your abs and your hips, and your legs, and your arms... okay, it works your whole body! I felt like a spastic dingbat trying to do some of the Paso Doble moves. All I have to say is that it was a good thing that my living room blinds were closed because I just might have caused the first "laughed to death" death recorded in Wake County history! Ha Ha Ha! I have to admit, though, it felt great to stretch and move my muscles, even if it was spaztastic! I think I might just do the Cha-Cha next time! :)
Also, an update on Liz... she's been working out and is even thinking of getting that INSANITY DVD set shown on TV... She is CraZy, pun intended! :)
