Presenting the Babes:
Hi! We're Karita and Liz! We're just 2 cool chicks embarking on a journey back to the Land of Skinny. We're busty babes and we're ready for next summer's bikinis! We're also family, with the same blood, the same nose and husbands whose names are both "Bobby."
This blog was created as a way to help each other reach our goals to become unfat! It'll allow some virtual butt kicking since we live several states away from each other... we're both fairly short and our legs just won't reach from NC to GA and back!
Today I, along with 27 other beautiful hearted ladies, just finished Walking with a Purpose, a charity walk for Mercy Ministries. Each walker donated $5 to go directly to Mercy!!!
Mercy Ministries is a God filled and God blessed ministry founded by Nancy Alcorn. Mercy's mission is simple... Take broken young women and bring them to the throne of God to reveal their true beauty. What I love about Mercy is that it is solely funded by contributors. No money is received by the government AT ALL, so Mercy can focus on the real solution to the girls' problems... God and the redeeming love of His Son, Jesus! Another thing I love about Mercy is that every girl admitted to the program 1) must come on her own initiative, 2) is not allowed to speak about her past to the other girls, and 3) comes free of charge!!! Nancy Alcorn is a true believer in being able to help and save every girl she can, regardless of their socioeconomic background. I love that!
Please take the time to check out Mercy... www.mercyministries.org. Feel free to give, if you see fit. It'll mean alot to these girls and just might warm your heart, too!
Here are some pics of our walk!!![gallery link="file" order="DESC"]

I’m not quite sure what possessed me to engage BL in a hike after my 3 mile Walk With a Purpose this morning, but I did it. It must have been the 60* weather after over a week of 20* days… That sun just kept luring me outside! We decided to do some geocaching, too, which is basically urban treasure hunting, if you don’t know and had a blast! We found the first cache fairly quickly as it was located in a very accessible place but the second cache was not as, shall we say… Willing to be found?!? We searched deep on a trail that was actually supposed to be closed for what seemed like hours but couldn’t find it! At one point, BL left me on the trail alone so he could go look for it Cherokee warrior style… Not the best idea we’ve ever had! All I can say is that I am NEVER hanging out on a closed trail by myself in the impending dusk of a January day again!!! I definately was putting my “God has not given my a spirit of fear” knowledge to heavy use!!! I have never been happier to see my husband than after those 20 mins alone in the woods! Once on the paved trail, I laughed about it… Kinda. Okay, it wasn’t until we made it back to the car that I cracked a smile!!! I did have fun, though. Part of geocaching is not getting caught or being seen by non geocachers… That always adds an element of excitement to the whole adventure! if you’re an outdoorsy person or are looking for a fun and FREE family activity, check out www.geocaching.com for more info! I think you’ll love it and have tons of skulking around fun!

Breakfast- 3/4 cup of honey nut cheerios with 1/2 cup skim milk.
Midmorning Snack - 1/4 turkey sandwich on wheat with mustard only.
Lunch - 3/4 turkey sandwich on wheat with mustard only. 1 small chocolate chip cookie.
Dinner - (I ate pretty late since I had to close at work.) **Chargrilled chicken sandwich on wheat bread and coke.
**If it seems like I have this a lot it's because Chick-fil-a is directly next to my store, hahaha!
So I'm totally going to make excuses for today... It was my day off with Deagan and it was his 9 month appointment (even though he'll be 10 months on Tuesday). Anyway, I fell off the bandwagon with breakfast and I had a coke too. :o( But I've still managed to lose 3 lbs in just 3 days!
Breakfast: Sausage biscuit and jelly, and a coke.
Midmorning snack: 1/4 cup of fat free vanilla yogurt and 2 sliced strawberries.
Lunch: Soy burger and bun.
Afternoon snack: (My lunch was a late one so I just waited for dinner.)
Dinner: 1 turkey dog on low calorie bread. 1 cup romaine lettuce with diced bell pepper, red grapes, chicken strips and lite dressing.
Snack: String cheese.
Breakfast- 1/2 cup of quick oats with skim milk and splenda. Scrambled egg whites with basil and parmesan cheese. 1 cup of 100% orange juice.
Midmorning snack- 1/2 cup blueberries and a quarter of an orange.
Lunch- Chargrilled chicken sandwich and a med. fruit cup.
Afternoon snack- (skipped, whoops.)
Dinner - 6 oz. chicken breast seasoned with lemon pepper, broiled. Scalloped potatoes, 1/4 cup of broccoli.
I campletely plan on getting this series as soon as I get my tax return in. After I pay my stack of bills of course... So hopefully I'll be able to start around mid February. I'm going to start walking to build up some endurance before I get the crap beat out of me by Shaun T, developer of the Insanity program.
Day 1:
Breakfast- 1/2 cup scrambled egg whites with a tsp of basil; low calorie toast with spray butter; 1/4 of an orange, 1/2 cup of blueberries.
Midmorning Snack- Fat free vanilla yogurt with 1/4 cup of sliced strawberries. (I threw in the blueberries I ddn't finish for breakfast, about 10 of them).
Lunch- Chargrilled chicken breast from Chick-fil-a (no bread); side salad with Lite Italian dressing.
Afternoon snack- 6 baby carrots with fat free ranch.
Dinner- Salmon fillet; spinach salad with oil and balsalmic vinegar and grated parmesan cheese; teh rest of the yogurt I didn't finish for my snack.
I thought this would be so hard, or it wouldn't be enough food to sustain me all day. But to tell the truth, I was struggling to finish my blueberries (which I love) at breakfast, I struggled to eat all of my yogurt, and dinner was super filling as well even though it really wasn't a lot of food. I am pleasantly susprized at how easy today went. And I felt better today than most days lately. I definately feel a difference on how my body reacts to the correct foods and portions. A real eye opener today...
